The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs and the United Arab Emirates organized the High Level Forum: Space as a driver for socio-economic sustainable development was successfully held during 20-24 November, 2016, Dubai. This Forum was co-organized and co-sponsored by Secure World Foundation, Sierra Nevada Corporation¡¯s Space Systems and International Committee on Global Navigation Satellite Systems, hosted by the United Arab Emirates Space Agency and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre.
APSCO delegation led by Dr. Li Xinjun, Secretary-General of APSCO attended the High Level Forum. On 20th November 2016, Dr.Li made a presentation named ¡°Space Cooperation is a Benefit Multiplier¡±. Participants from other organizations showed a keen interest with APSCO activities and had many discussions after his presentation.
On the date of 24th November, Dr.Li Xinjun had a bilateral meeting with the Director General of United Arab Emirates (UAE) Space Agency Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al-AHBABI. Dr.Li briefed the dignitary about ongoing cooperative activities of APSCO for promoting space cooperation in the Asia-Pacific Region with particular reference to Small Multi-Mission Satellite (SMMS) Constellation Programme and Small Student Satellite (SSS) project which would greatly help Member States for capacity building in space technology development. Both sides exchanged views for mutual benefits, discussed the possibility and the ways of extending cooperation between UAE authorities and APSCO in the future.
