The Kick-off Meeting of APSCO Student Small Satellite Project was successfully held during Dec.12-15,2016 at APSCO Headquarters, Beijing, China. 32 representatives of all Member States and APSCO Secretariat participated in the meeting. The distinguished delegates are nominated by Member States-- Bangladesh, China, Iran, Mongolia, Pakistan, Peru, Thailand and Turkey.
Dr. Li Xinjun, Secretary-General of APSCO and Prof. Huang Haijun, Vice President of Beihang University and Mr. Xu Yansong, Division Director for International Affairs from CNSA delivered welcome speeches to participants at the opening ceremony. Dr. Li Xinjun emphasized the significance of SSS project for APSCO and expressed high expectations on project implementation and official kick-off. He also expressed his appreciation to all Member States¡¯ delegates for their hard work and contributions on this project.
Dr. Mohammad Ebrahimi Seyedabadi, Director General of Department of Education and Training and Database Management of APSCO chaired the meeting. The meeting started with a general project introduction and review of the progress on decisions of Kick-off preparation meeting. All Kick-off documents were reviewed in detail during the meeting. These documents include Project Implementation and Management Plan, Project Deliverable Items and Description Document, Project Financial and Cost Management Plan, Project Role of the Member States for Implementation of the project. Distinguished experts from Iran, Pakistan, China and Thailand made separate presentations on SOP for Microsatellite Steering Committee, SOP for Project Management Team and SOP for Education and Training. All Member States had intensive discussion on Kick-off documents and shared their experience and comments on the documents.
During the Kick-off meeting, Project Management Team (PMT) was formally established. APSCO Secretariat has granted the certificates to all PMT Members from each Member State.
APSCO Secretariat also signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on SSS-1 Microsatellite and related ancillary work with Beihang University. Beihang University also signed MoU with subsystem provider MSs¡ªIran, Pakistan and Peru. Finally, Member States reached a consensus on Minutes of Meeting (MoM). With the agreement of all Member States and in line with the establishment of PMO, the Student Small Satellite Project was formally Kicked-off.
At the end of the meeting, the Secretariat of APSCO thanked all experts from Member States for their active participation, inputs, efforts and dedication for the meeting.
