The First Technical Session of The Establishment of a Framework for Researches on Application of Space Technology for Disaster Monitoring in the APSCO Member States Project (Framework Project) was held in Bangkok, Thailand from 19th to 24th January 2017. Delegates from Bangladesh, China, Iran, Mongolia, Pakistan, Peru and Thailand attended this meeting.
After the welcome speech provided by Dr. Manop Aorpimai, Director General of the Strategic Planning and Program Management Department of APSCO, Mr.A. Z. Md. Zahedul Islam, Chief Scientific Officer and Member of SPARRSO, Bangladesh made presentation on the background introduction on the Framework Project. Four sub-sessions were carried on the themes of Flood and Earthquake within the four days Technical Session duration. One topic on Flood and two topics on Earthquake were selected as the Joint Research Projects which would be led separately by Bangladesh, Pakistan and Iran under the Framework of the Project. After the major Technical Session, a back to back PMB meeting was also successfully held the last day.
The Technical Session was successfully concluded with expected outcomes. The experts expressed their gratitude to APSCO and to the local organizer, Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDE) of Thailand for their hospitalities, cooperation and efficient performances during the meeting.
