The signing ceremony of Contract for APSCO Student Small Satellite (SSS) Project (SSS-2A CubeSat) between Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) was held on 18th of May, 2017 in the Headquarters of APSCO, Beijing, China.
APSCO SSS project is aimed at training students and faculties from Member States (MS) for satellite engineering through hands-on practical training until the flight model is made, and thus to contribute significantly to the development of space education system among MS, as well as to enhance the capacity building of Universities in space technology development for senior undergraduates and above levels in both aspects of knowledge and engineering practices.
The signing ceremony was attended by 15 participants from APSCO, China National Space Administration (CNSA) and SJTU, and addressed by invited VIPs including Dr. Li Xinjun, Secretary General of the APSCO, Prof Lin Zhongqin, Academician£¬President SJTU and Mr. Xu Yansong, Division Director of CNSA.
The ceremony was hosted by Dr. Mohammad Ebrahimi Seyedabadi, Director General of Department of Education Training and Database Management of APSCO. At the beginning of the ceremony, Prof Lin Zhongqin of SJTU expressed that the university pays high attention to the project and would provide the maximum support on the research team and condition in the future. He also introduced background of SJTU and all participants from the university. Mr. Xu Yansong then emphasized the significance of the contract signing. Last, Dr. Li Xinjun expressed that this is a special project and a good start between APSCO and SJTU through the future cooperation. He also eagerly hoped both sides would have a new style of cooperation on the students¡¯ cultivation during the following three years¡¯ project phase.
At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Li Xinjun and Prof Lin Zhongqin signed the contract on behalf of APSCO and SJTU respectively. The signing was observed by the distinguished delegates and the project PMB members.
