The Asia Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) training course on remote sensing application and data sharing service platform was successfully held during 9-12 May, 2017 in Ankara, Turkey. The training was jointly organized by the Secretariat of APSCO and Tš¹BITAK UZAY and Prime Minister¡¯s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
Dr. Erdal Yilmaz, the Deputy Director of Tš¹BITAK UZAY chaired the opening ceremony on the first day of the training and welcomed the APSCO lecturer team. He introduced and emphasized the importance of DSSP to all participants. Over 60 participants from Tš¹BITAK UZAY, AFAD, Companies and Universities attended the training course. All participants expressed interest in new DSSP-phase II and expressed willingness to have related cooperation with APSCO and Chinese Institutes on Remote Sensing Applications. Later, the lecturer team visited the AFAD Headquarters and had discussion on the prospects and modalities of CHARTER-like mechanism which is planned to be built by APSCO. AFAD showed keen interest in GF-3 data and expressed that they were looking forward to acquiring its data for disaster management in the future.
Lecturer team of APSCO would conduct similar training course on remote sensing application and data sharing service platform in all the remaining Member States in coming three months.
