The Asia Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) training course on remote sensing application and data sharing service platform was successfully held during 23-26 May, 2017 in Bangkok, the Kingdom of Thailand. The training was jointly organized by the Secretariat of APSCO and Kasetsart University.
Dr. Mongkol Raksapatcharawong, from Kasetsart University chaired the opening ceremony and welcomed the lecturer team. Mr. Xu Chun Rong, the Deputy Director of China Earth Observation and Data Center of China National Space Administration joined in the first day of the training. He and his colleague Dr. Lai Ji Bao introduced the ongoing APSCO Joint Small Multi-Mission Satellite (SMMS) Constellation Program and hope it could closely integrate with DSSP in the future, jointly benefit the people of all Member States.
Over 30 participants from Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, National Disaster Warning Center, Department of Lands, GISTDA, Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Office of Agriculture Economics, Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation, Meteorological Department, Department of Agriculture Extension, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Royal Irrigation Department and Kasetsart University attended the training course and they gave high regards for the training course. Thailand has been suffering from natural disasters frequently, therefore a lot of participants expressed their great interest in metrological satellites data and hope DSSP will provide relevant data in future. The course ended and climaxed at the ¡°hands-on¡± session that all participants downloaded and processed data from the DSSP under the direction of lecturers.
Next, lecturer team of APSCO will continue to offer similar training course in Mongolia.
