On 6th June, 2017, the Secretary-General of APSCO, Dr. Li Xinjun, led the team of international staffs from the Secretariat to attend the ¡°Global Space Exploration Conference (GLEX 2017)¡± in Beijing. GLEX 2017, held during 6-8 June, 2017, was jointly held by the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) and the Chinese Society of Astronautics (CSA). APSCO is one of the main co-sponsors of the event. The Chinese Vice President, Mr. Li Yuanchao, addressed the welcome speech in the opening ceremony. He also delivered the congratulatory message from Honorable Mr. Xi Jinping, the Chinese President, to the conference and all participants.
In the conference, how space exploration investments provide benefits and how those benefits will be increased through well planning and cooperation were discussed. Cosmic win-win cooperation between nations rather than space race is strongly called for among international space community. China also voiced its willingness to carry out more projects with Belt and Road countries in various fields to enable more countries to benefit.
This conference brought together leaders and decision makers, as well as engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs, educators, agency representatives and policy makers in the field of science and space exploration community. Thousands of delegates from 51 countries over the world have been attracted to attend the conference.
