The Kick-Off Meeting, and the First Training and Field Campaign of Radiometric Calibration of Satellite Sensors Project was held in Beijing and Dunhuang, China, during 14-25 of August, 2017. Experts from Bangladesh, China, Iran, Mongolia, Pakistan, Peru, Thailand and Turkey attended this activity.
Dr. Egemen Ozalp, Deputy Secretary-General of APSCO welcomed all experts and thanked for their participation in the First In-Class Training and Field campaign. He gave brief background historical information and emphasized on the importance of this project. He also thanked initiator of this project, TUBITAK UZAY and CRESDA for their support and significant contribution to the first training and field campaign.
Dr.Manop Aorpimai, Director General of Strategic Planning and Program Management Department of APSCO chaired the Kick-Off Meeting.
Mrs. Husne Seda, Deveci, the Project Manager from Project Lead, gave a presentation on Project Implementation and Management Plan. All experts from Member States discussed on the Project Implementation and Management Plan and its objectives, overview of planned project activities, detailed description of working packets, schedule and milestones of the project, workshops and Center of Excellence (CoE).
During the First Year¡¯s In-Class training, basic principle of remote sensing, Pre-Launch Radiometric Calibration, On-Board Radiometric Calibration, Absolute Radiometric Calibration, Basic principle, Cross Calibration and Absolute Radiometric Calibration¡¯s topics were trained. Then, 1st Field Campaign of Radiometric Calibration of Satellite Sensors Project was held in Dunhuang, China, during 20-23 of August, 2017. Experts visited the Gobi Site and Vegetation Site and focused on hands-on training on VNIR Calibration data processing using 6S application.
It was recognized by all experts that the Radiometric Calibration of Satellite Sensors Project has been successfully kicked-off. The First Training and Field Campaign activities have been successfully conducted, and their main objectives have been well achieved. All participating experts acknowledged and appreciated the contributions and kind support from the Project Lead and CRESDA. The second year In-Class training and Field Campaign will be held in Turkey, in August, 2018.
