The second Working Group Meeting (WGM) of APSCO Space Education and Curricula Development was held jointly with Beihang University/APSCO Education and Training Center in China. The meeting was aimed at discussing the current status of Space Education in Member States (MS), their demands and requirements.
More than 24 distinguished delegates, professors and experts from APSCO Member States namely Bangladesh, China, Iran, Pakistan, Peru, Thailand and Turkey, officials from Bureau of Tianfu New Area and officials from APSCO Secretariat actively participated in the meeting.
The opening session was hosted by Dr. Mohammad Ebrahimi Seyedabadi, Director General of Education and Training and Database Management Department of APSCO. Dr. Weng Jingnong, Dean of International School, Beihang University, Mr. Zhang Xuhuai, Vice Director of Science and Technology Development Bureau of Tianfu New Area, Mr. Liu Jie, Head of Science Industry Department of Science and Technology Development Bureau of Tianfu New Area, Mr. Mi Zuping, Executive General Manager of Beihang University International Innovation Center of Western China, and Mr. Liu Quan, Director of Administrative Office of Beihang University International Innovation Center of Western China warmly welcomed the participants of the meeting and wished the meeting complete success.
The meeting was chaired by Prof. Qamar ul Islam from Pakistan, who was unanimously selected by the participants. Dr. Mohammad Ebrahimi Seyedabadi made a presentation on APSCO education and training activities, space curricula program background, and expected outcomes of the meeting to the participants.
Delegates from Member States made a presentation each on the current status of space education in MS and the demands and requirements by them for curricula development. Professors from Beihang University made presentations on the current education curricula on Space Technology Applications. Prof. WengJingnong from Beihang University made presentations on ¡°New initiative: BeiDou Belt & Road School¡± and suggest to establish APSCO University Alliance. Experts from Member States made agreement on Minutes of Meeting and proposed establishing APSCO University Alliance to promote experts and students¡¯ exchange among alliance members and also joint research programs and proposed alliance members should work together on developing space curricula, textbooks, scientific journals and etc.
After the meeting, an institutional visit took place at the Chengdu Science City Planning Exhibition Hall.
