MASTA 2017 & DOCSTA 2017 students visited APSCO Headquarters on November 23, 2017. The delegation included 34 students from APSCO Member States, sponsored by APSCO MASTA 2017 & DOCSTA 2017 program, and 15 students sponsored by Regional Center for Space Science and Technology Education in Asia and the Pacific (China) (Affiliated to the United Nations), in particular from Algeria, Bolivia, Brazil, Nigeria and Venezuela.
Dr. Li Xinjun, Secretary-General of APSCO, warmly welcomed the students and briefed them on cooperative activities of APSCO and encouraged them to study hard and feel themselves as a member of the APSCO family, always. MASTA being a regular Master program of APSCO is implemented by Beihang University of China under joint scholarship scheme by APSCO, Beihang University and the Government of China, which is successfully on-going since 2010. The DOCSTA, being a Ph.D. program started from year 2013 under the same scheme. The areas of specialization for this year¡¯s MASTA program are: 1) Space Remote Sensing and Geo-Information System (RS&GIS); 2) Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS); and 3) Micro-Satellite Technology and DOCSTA program concentrates on Space Technology and Applications.
The activity was hosted by Dr. Mohammad Ebrahimi Seyedabadi, Director General of Education Training and Database Management Department of APSCO. During the visit, three presentations covering the role, purpose, and acheivements of APSCO; the future plans of APSCO projects and APSCO Education and Training activities were made by Dr. Ebrahimi on behalf of Mr. Nasir Mahmood, Director General of Department of External Relations and Legal Affairs; Dr. Manop Aorpimai, Director General of Department of Strategic Planning and Program Management and Dr. Ebrahimi respectively. An orientation tour was organized to APSCO ¡°Exhibition HALL¡± and other facilities. It was a valuable visit for MASTA and DOCSTA students as they got more knowledge and information about APSCO. Meanwhile, the students also expressed their enthusiasm on current and future activities of APSCO and provided their feedback on their programs of study.
