On March 5, 2018, the Secretary-General of APSCO, Dr. Li Xinjun leading a delegation visited the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey-Space Technologies Research Institute (TUBITAK-UZAY) in Ankara, Turkey. The Director Dr. Lokman Kuzu warmly welcomed the delegation. During the meeting, Dr. Li and Dr. Kuzu deeply exchanged views on further cooperation between the two organizations, including co-organizing space related activities and trainings.
Regarding to the APSCO Student Small Satellite (SSS) Project, Dr. Li reaffirmed the goal and vision of it are to train students and faculties from Member States (MS) for satellite engineering through hands-on practical training until the flight model is made, and thus to contribute to the development of space education system among MS, as well as to enhance the capacity building of Universities in space technology development for senior undergraduates and above levels in both aspects of knowledge and engineering practices. Dr. Kuzu also showed his consent on the spirit and benefits of the SSS Project; and expressed his willingness to fully support the project and to co-organize the technical review meeting and the Second Summer Camp in Turkey, which concentrates on development of detailed technologies in the micro/nano satellite platform/subsystems.
After full discussion by both contracting parties of the contract, the SSS-2B Project was successfully signed by Dr. Li Xinjun and Dr. Lokman Kuzu on behalf of APSCO and TUBITAK-UZAY, respectively.
