On April 24, Dr. Li Xinjun, the Secretary-General of APSCO and his delegations attended the opening ceremony and relevant activities of the 3rd National Space Day of China at Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, HeiLongJiang province, China.
The theme of the 3rd China Space Day was ¡°Forging Together New Era of Space Development¡±. As an important segment of the opening ceremony, Dr. Li Xinjun, Secretary-General of APSCO, Mr. Wu Yanhua, Vice Administrator of China National Space Administration (CNSA), Mr. Yu XinWen, Vice Administrator of China Meteorological Administration (CMA) jointly announced tripartite signing of the ¡°Letter of Intent¡± between Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization; China National Space Administration; and China Meteorological Administration, for cooperation in the application of FY Meteorological Satellite¡± which was signed a day earlier, in the afternoon.
In this letter of intent, three parties agreed to combine the ¡°The Belt and Road¡± initiative with the strategic plan of APSCO. Deepen the cooperation on the application of meteorological satellite to enhance the capability of APSCO Member States for weather prediction, natural disaster mitigation and climate change management. For better service and to provide the real-time FY meteorological satellites data to APSCO and its Member States, CNSA and CMA will optimize FY Series Satellite Constellation¡¯s configuration and upgrade the CMACast system for the improvement of the application capability to promote the implementation of Belt and Road Spatial Information Corridor.
This ¡®Letter of Intent¡¯ is one of the most important milestones of Data Sharing Service Platform (DSSP) of APSCO and it marks the entry of DSSP into a new level of cooperation.
In the afternoon, Dr. Li Xinjun and his delegation participated in the ¡°Satellites Application and International Cooperation Seminar¡±. Dr. Manop Aorpimai, Director General, Department of Strategic Planning and Program Management gave a keynote speech titled ¡°A Well-established Corridors for Space Information Sharing¡±. The delegation also visited the exhibition of China Space Day and other related activities.
