The Second Expert Group Meeting on the Feasibility Study of ¡°Forest Carbon Stock Assessment using Geospatial Technologies¡± Project was co-organized by the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) and Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission(SUPARCO), on May 22-24, 2018£¬in Islamabad, Pakistan. Experts from all APSCO Member States participated in this Meeting. H.E. Mr. Qaiser Anees Khurram, Chairman of SUPARCO and the First Vice Chairman of the APSCO Council met with all the participants during the meeting and expressed his strong support to APSCO cooperative activities.
In the opening ceremony session, Honorable Mr. Imran Iqbal, Member, Space Application & Research Wing of SUPARCO, gave a welcome speech to all participants on behalf of SUPARCO. Dr. Manop Aorpimai, Director General, Department of Strategic Planning and Program Management represented APSCO Secretariat to welcome all experts and briefly introduced and emphasized the importance of this project.
The meeting, chaired by Dr. Manop Aorpimai, went on smoothly as planned. Subjects on ¡°User Requirements and Objectives¡±, ¡°Data requirements and Specifications¡±, ¡°Work Breakdown¡±, ¡°Implementation Plan¡± and ¡°Cost and Benefit Analysis¡± and overall plan of this project were discussed thoroughly in the meeting. Forest resources management and forest carbon stock assessment activities from member states were also shared during this meeting, through their presentations and discussions.
It was recognized by all participants that the Second Expert Group Meeting on the Feasibility Study of ¡°Forest Carbon Stock Assessment using Geospatial Technologies¡± project was successful, and the main objectives of the meeting had been achieved. APSCO recognized and appreciated the hard work, contribution, great efforts and continuous support from SUPARCO and all participants of the meeting.
