The First Workshop of Radiometric Calibration of Satellite Sensors Project was successfully Organized

The First Workshop of Radiometric Calibration of Satellite Sensors Project was held in Bangkok, Thailand, during 25-27 December, 2018. Experts from BangladeshChina, Iran, Mongolia, Pakistan, Peru, Thailand and Turkey participated this workshop.
Dr. Manop Aorpimai, Director General of Strategic Planning and Program Management Department of APSCO, represented the Secretariat during the opening ceremony. He emphasized the importance and great achievements of this project and congratulated on winning award ¡°The Best Asia-Pacific Linkage Project of APSCO¡± during the 10th Anniversary of the Orgainization. Dr. Manop Aorpimai expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the Office of the National Digital Economy and Society Commission (ONDE) and Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) of Thailand for co-organizing this workshop, appreciated participation and contribution of all APSCO Member States in this project.
Dr. Anond Snidvongs, Executive Director of GISTDA, gave an opening speech on behalf of the co-organizer from Thailand. He warmly welcomed all experts from APSCO Member States, and expressed his appreciation for benefits contributed by this project to capacity building of APSCO Member States in the areas of radiometric calibration of satellite sensors. He also assured full support and cooperation from Thailand to the project.
During the Workshop, all Member State¡¯s experts presented their data processing reports based on data collected at the calibration site and satellite images taken over Tuz Golu, Turkey during the last field campaign activity. Dr. Gao Hailiang, the expert from RADI, China, provided mentoring and guidance on the detail calculation. He also delivered a hands-on training course on Cross Calibration Methods.
Proposals on potential calibration sites were presented by experts from the Member States Iran, Mongolia, Pakistan and Peru, and discussion on site expedition activities in 2019 was exchanged by all experts.

It was recognized by all Member States that the First workshop of Radiometric Calibration of Satellite Sensors Project has been successfully organized and capacity on the field has been built among APSCO Member States as planned. All participating experts acknowledged and appreciated the contributions and kind supports from APSCO, ONDE, GISTDA and the Project Lead, TUBITAK UZAY of Turkey.
