Delegation of APSCO participated in the 56th Session of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee £¨STSC£© of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space £¨COPUOS£©, held at the United Nations Office in Vienna, Austria during 11th - 22nd February, 2019.
As an Inter-Governmental Organization with Permanent Observer status of the Committee, the APSCO delegation actively participated all sessions of the meeting. APSCO also made a statement reporting its cooperative activities on exploiting space science and technology to benefit socio-economic development in its member States during the past year, especially mentioned some flagship initiatives, such as the APSCO Joint Small Multi-Mission Satellite £¨SMMS£© Constellation Program, the continued phases of several projects and the new generation cultivation. The delegation proudly reported the great success of APSCO 10th Anniversary High Level Forum events organized in November, 2018, where the congratulatory messages from the member States' Leaders, including Presidents of China and Pakistan and Prime Minister of Mongolia, as well as congratulatory message from UNOOSA, were honorably conveyed at the Forum. The delegation also reported that during this important milestone, the APSCO Council endorsed the "APSCO Development Vision-2030", which will guide the Organization toward the next development stage, opening a new chapter in space cooperation, and further enhancing prosperity among its Members. APSCO statement at the STSC received very warm welcome from the audiences. It attracted delegations from many countries and organizations to visit and express their interests in cooperation with APSCO.
APSCO also took this special opportunity to meet with its Members and other partners and discuss about on-going activities and cooperation. A trilateral meeting was organized between APSCO, TUBITAK UZAY of Turkey and UNOOSA on the Conference on Space Law and Policy that will be co-organized in Istanbul, Turkey in September, 2019. Some bilateral meetings were arranged for sharing common interests among APSCO member States, including APSCO-Indonesia meeting to discuss their final procedure to become full Member of APSCO family.
